Industrial design and intelligent manufacturing: the Reminet and Materflow partnership is built on solutions
Reminet Oy operates not only as an industrial design partner but also in project management and commissioning. Materflow’s 3D printing services complement Reminet’s design solutions, particularly in prototyping and the development of new product areas.
Reminet Oy is a Finnish industrial design partner offering companies and project suppliers the design and implementation of technically demanding mechanical, mechatronics, and production projects. Reminet’s services include mechanical design, automation and electrical design, industrial maintenance, technical documentation, 3D scanning, and 3D printing.
“We leverage the latest expertise, software, and innovations in the field to help companies succeed in the best possible way,” says Reminet CEO Kimmo Palo.
One of Reminet’s long-standing partners is Materflow, whose 3D printing services complement Reminet’s design solutions — particularly in prototyping and the development of new product areas.
A shared history, a shared goal
Kimmo Palo and Materflow’s Timo Peltonen share a history going back to their student years. That friendship grew into a natural working relationship when Reminet was founded around five years ago. From the outset, it was clear that 3D printing would be an important part of the modern design process.
“We identified a synergy — Materflow focuses on high-quality printing, and we focus on design. Together, we were able to offer customers complete solutions,” says Palo.
3D printing complements the design lifecycle
Reminet draws on Materflow’s expertise in all projects requiring 3D printed parts — whether plastic or metal, prototype or end-use component. Typical examples include robotic grippers, various adapters, and industrial parts.
“The collaboration has been easy and smooth from the very beginning. We have explored together where printing could be used more within the market — and solutions have often emerged quickly,” Palo says.
Printed parts are used in Reminet’s projects primarily for drafting and testing, but also in developing new product areas where conventional machining does not offer a viable solution.
New markets and scalable collaboration
Reminet operates not only as a design partner but also in project management and commissioning. Increasingly, the company takes projects further — from design through to implementation, procurement, and installation. This calls for reliable manufacturing partners capable of responding to varying customer needs quickly and to a high standard.
Materflow’s broad expertise in materials and manufacturing has been invaluable, particularly for fire-rated or mechanically demanding components.
The future: artificial intelligence, digital spare parts, and new business
Both Reminet and Materflow believe the future will be increasingly defined by digital design and intelligent manufacturing.
“In the future, we want to explore how artificial intelligence could be used to bridge design and manufacturing — how 3D modelling could be automated and new solutions developed more efficiently,” reflects Kimmo Palo.
Reminet also sees opportunities in the development of digital spare parts, surface treatment solutions, and 3D-printable systems. The collaboration with Materflow is an important part of that growth story.
The partnership between Reminet and Materflow is founded on shared vision, agility, and ease of communication.
“Materflow has been a significant partner from the very early days of the company — and the collaboration only deepens. We can often deliver exactly the right solution to a customer quickly, because we know each other and understand each other’s work,” Palo concludes.
